Condo Terrace Questions

I’m looking at many different condos right now and I was curious about the pros and the cons of living in a condo that has a pretty big terrace?

The one condo I was looking at in particular is on the top floor which is only the third floor, but I know there has to be things that I can’t do with my terrace.

Thanks and I appreciate the help.

What’s up Brett? Sounds like you might be moving to Mt. Pleasant or maybe buying a second vacation place. Either way, I know that you’re going to love the time you spend here.

This is actually a really great question because many people don’t realize that terraces on condos usually do have many different rules and issues associated with them.

One of the biggest things you might want to consider is no grills are allowed on terraces. This may really affect you as you would be living on the third floor and can’t easily get access to a grassy area.

It’s against fire code to have open flame that close to your building.

The next thing you’ll want to consider is the direction the terrace faces. This is important because having a terrace is really great but if you never get the sun or something like that then you’ll probably end up never using it.

Another thing that is really important to realize… especially here in Mt. Pleasant is whether your terrace will be completely or parcially screened in.

We get terrible mosquitos and little bugs called “no see’ums” that are very annoying. If you don’t have any screened in areas then you might not be able to use your terrace on those great summer evenings. AT least makes sure that you have permission to get a portion or all of it screened in.

I hope that helped and I just want to say that it was again a great question because not many people even ask questions like that.
